In August 1996, Rollie and Sheila Knoke, founders of Rapid Service, Inc., started out on a venture with no idea where it would lead. They spent almost twenty years in the restaurant industry and felt it was time to embark on something different. With a little faith and a lot of prayer, the vision of Rapid Service, Inc. was birthed. The company began with one truck and one driver and was dedicated to forwarders and other carriers in the local area.

By July 1998, the Knokes had grown the fleet to approximately fifteen trucks and had the revelation that they were going to need people with knowledge and experience in the transportation industry. Gene Davis was employed February 1997 and took Rapid Service, Inc.’s safety and compliance to a level of excellence that is still in existence today. Without Gene’s help, we would not have the safest drivers in the industry or such high DOT safety ratings. Gene’s passing in January 2007 was a shock to all, but his knowledge and experience lives on in the department he educated and the people he trained. Jeff Shirley, now the managing partner, was hired July 1998 and began building relationships with manufacturers across the upstate and continues to cultivate these relationships.

Rollie and Sheila are still actively involved in the day-to-day affairs of the company. Today, Rapid Service, Inc. has over forty trucks and fifty-five drivers in its fleet, and the best trained and qualified staff in the industry. Together, we have over sixty-five years experience in our operations staff and offer services to manufacturers, freight forwarders, third party logistics companies and other carriers across North America. Rapid Service, Inc. not only offers ground expedite but also has the capabilities to offer airfreight services. We can respond to almost any deadline our customers may require. In addition, Rapid Service, Inc. is a member of the TEANA organization, the largest expedited alliance in North America. With the help of our sister company, Rapid Service Logistics, Inc., we have over 5000 resources available, which means even more options to better serve our customers and their expedited shipping needs.
